Our mission
BuildMate publishes practical calculators and guides that help homeowners, DIYers and contractors plan projects. Everything we publish is written to be useful first and search-friendly second.
Sourcing
Quantity formulas follow standard, publicly documented trade arithmetic — area, volume, coverage rates and on-centre spacing — and each calculator prints the formula it used. Cost figures use published national low-to-high price ranges adjusted by a state-level factor. We do not use a live price feed, and we do not claim a licensed data subscription. Our methodology page documents every assumption.
Review process
Content is written and checked in-house by the people who build BuildMate. We do not claim review by licensed engineers, architects or contractors, because we do not currently retain professional reviewers. Formulas are checked against published trade references, and cost ranges are re-checked periodically.
Authorship
Articles and guides are published under “BuildMate Guides” rather than invented personal bylines. “Last updated” dates reflect the date the page content was actually changed.
Corrections
We correct errors quickly and transparently — see our Corrections Policy for how to report an issue and how we handle fixes.
Independence
Our editorial content is not paid for by any brand, contractor, or supplier. When we link to products or services, we disclose it — see our Affiliate Disclosure.
AI usage
Some drafts, summaries or code may be produced with AI assistance, and every published page is reviewed by a person before it goes live. AI output is treated as a draft, never as a source for a cost figure, formula or safety claim.
