Installed cost per window (2026 national avg)
- Vinyl double-hung, insert install: $600–$900
- Vinyl double-hung, full-frame: $850–$1,300
- Fiberglass double-hung: $1,100–$1,700
- Wood-clad (Marvin, Andersen 400): $1,500–$2,500
- Picture windows / large fixed: add 20–40%
Insert vs full-frame
Insert installs are 30–40% cheaper and preserve interior trim. Choose full-frame only if the existing frames are rotted, out-of-square, or you're changing sizes.
Energy credit
The 25C credit reimburses 30% up to $600 for ENERGY STAR windows in 2026. It's per-year, so stage large jobs across two tax years.
